The LSU AgCenter currently has four interactive web map applications that are based on the LSU AgCenter Enterprise GIS at http://maps.lsuagcenter.com/ .
This site provides digital copies of current, prior and preliminary flood insurance rate maps (FIRMs) used in the National Flood Insurance Program. By summer 2011 the site will include all parishes in Louisiana. For some parishes you will be redirected to either FEMA or the Louisiana Mapping Project (LaMP) web site. Those parishes that are hosted on maps.lsuagcenter.com include ground elevation for your point of interest, which is acquired from the U.S.Geological Survey Elevation Service.
This site provides a digital version of the Basic Wind Speed map from the International Building Codes. The site also provides ground elevation for your point of interest, which is acquired from the U.S.Geological Survey Elevation Service.
Weather (Louisiana Agriclimatic Information System, LAIS)
The Louisiana Agriclimatic Information System (LAIS) is a network of 23 automated weather stations operated by the LSU AgCenter. Data available include current and past precipitation, air and soil temperatures, humidity, pressure, wind speed, wind direction, solar radiation, archived and compiled with summary statistics for each site. Data are collected at 3-second intervals and presented as one-minute average with updates between 2 – 5 minutes for near real-time availability. The system also displays current radar, visible and infrared satellite images.
The Louisiana Watersheds website is an interactive GIS mapping tool used to view, navigate and identify any and all of the watersheds throughout Louisiana. Just choose HUC 8 or HUC 12 then point and click on your watershed to identify the Region, Basin, Hydrological Unit Code (HUC) and many other details regarding any of the watersheds in Louisiana.
